'Last Run' get first USA screening at Illinois film Festival...
Richard recently completed work on the muscial score and sound design for Brian Yung's short film, Last Run.
Having written an initial score for the project, this was then deconstructed - elements were manipulated in various ways to create a different suite of music. Last Run - shot on beautiful, warm, film - is a piece with a blind man as it's central character. All music and sound design therefore was an interpretation of what this character may experience through a hightened auditory perspective of his surroundings.
Richard even got the opportunity to tip his hat to a favorite 1970's film score by Roy Budd - Get Carter, starring Michael Caine - by utilising instruments such as the dulcitone to emphasise the winter backdrop of Last Run. Sound design elements were captured on set also, which both inspired the score and ensured the ambiences were authentic in the mix.
UPDATE: 'Last Run' begins its film festival journey in the US, playing at the iMAGO Film Festival in April 2009...
