"A Hindu's Indictment of Heaven" a short film by Dev Khanna, which features audio post, sound design and mix by Richard will feature in 2009's short film line up at the Toronto International Film Festival it was announced on 4th August.
Described by TIFF as, "a charming tongue-in-cheek drama about a woman who waits outside the gates of heaven for her soulmate," it stars Georgina Reilly - a lead actress in Bruce McDonald's feature film, "Pontypool" which premiered at last years TIFF. It is the second time Dev and Richard have collaborated. Last time around Richard delivered audio post for "Terry Southern's Plums and Prunes"- which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2007.
Richard is currently working on a number of other projects. These include foley artist work for the Michael Eisener (ex Walt Disney president) animated tv series, "Glenn Martin DDS" which is currently screening on the Nickelodeon Channel (Nick at Night); music composition for series 3 of award winning travel documentary, "Departures"; and audio post, sound design, music composition and mix for Canadian independent feature film"Whatever It Was" which will have a limited cinema release during September.
BravoFact! short 'Becoming' - Premieres in Los Angeles, hits 4 Canadian Festivals, then travels to Barcelona Spain for Festival International De Badalona and Miami during November.
Richard completed sound design for Becoming, a visually stunning short film, written, directed and produced by Ayelen Liberona and Joseph Johnson Cami. Extensive field recording and foley sessions were carried out for this piece, as the entire film was shot MOS. The entire soundscape was built from the ground up.
Featuring animations by Carlos Lascano (2005 Oscar pre-nomination), a wonderful cello based score by New York based Rubin Kodheli, and make up/effects by Colin Penman (Hulk; SAW series), it was a fantastic project to be a part of. A 6 minute version will air on Bravo!, and a longer 8 minute cut will head to the film festival circuit. Key dates so far...

Music cues provided for Gemini Award winning travel documentary, "Departures"
Departures is an inspirational TV show that follows two travellers who drop everything to journey across the world for an entire year. Richard has provided music cues for the upcoming second series of the show.
The show is beautifully shot - and recently won a Best Photography award at the 23rd Annual Gemini Awards - as well as being nominated for Best Picture Editing in an Information Program/Series.
The new series begins airing in Canada on OLN (Outdoor Life Network) in January 2009, and then Internationally to over 40 countries in September 2009 on the National Geographic Adventure Channel.
Films acquired by Ouat! Media for worldwide distribution feature music scores by Richard.
The films are 'Day 3' by Navin Ramaswaran, and 'Last Run' by Brian Yung. The films also feature sound design by Richard.
Ouat! Media is a global media distribution specialist, and part of the Zero Channel Inc. family of companies - which also includes Silver Screen Classics, and Movieola - the short film channel.
Stop Press: "Last Run" won the award for Best International Experimental Short Film at the Illinois International film Festival during October.
Short film Slap! screens at 25th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival
Frieda Luk's short film Slap! - featuring sound design, background music cues and mix by Richard - premiered at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival in May. It screened at the prestigious DGA (Director's Guild of America) Theater on Sunset Boulevard.
The film involves Paul, a man completely overwhelmed from breaking up with his girlfriend. Paul decides to commit suicide. Before he gets to the act, God suddenly appears- an unconventional God that surprises, confounds and challenges him.
The festival is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year.
UPDATE: Slap! recently screened in France, at the Strasbourg International Film Festival during September 2009.
Richard writes musical score for award winning US film
Richard completed the musical score for U.S. film, 'Invisible Man' during 2007. We are pleased to announce that the film has been selected by the jury as a Finalist at this year's Moondance International Film Festival in Boulder, Colarado. The film - directed by Mark Rogers - "revolves around a day in the life of a homeless man in Washington, D.C.", and is described as,"...the classic story of the underdog who fights against overwhelming odds to help his fellow man." 'Invisible Man' features fourteen music cues by Richard. It screens at the festival on September 1st 2008. http://invisiblemandvd.com/
Update: 'Invisible Man' recently won a bronze award at the 30th Annual Telly Awards in the film/video category.
Update: 'Invisible Man' was also an Official Selection at the 14th Annual International Family Film Festival in Los Angeles, and screens there during March 2009.
