Feature film Fondi '91 secures distribution deal
I carried out location sound recordist/mixer duties - with my colleague Shawn French on boom - for upcoming feature film Fondi '91 a while back.
The film was shot entirely on location in the beautiful town of Fondi in Italy.
Latest news is that the film has secured distribution with 108 Media Corp. They will also be representing the film shortly at the Festival de Cannes, France.
It's a wonderful film, beautifully shot, and features a stellar cast including Canada's Raymond Ablack (Degrassi) and Mylène St-Sauveur. The film also features the talents of Italian stars Remo Girone and Serena Iansiti.
I'm very happy - relieved! - to report that only a handful of lines required ADR in the post production stage, given what was a challenging shoot in a variety of sometimes difficult locations.
Looking forward to seeing director Dev Khanna's finished film in theatres soon.

Short Film 'The Evening News' will be part of the Short Film Corner at Festival de Cannes in May 2012.
The film features two of Canada's finest actors - David Fox and Barbara Gordon.
It was written/directed by Dev Khanna and written/produced by Angela Besharah.

'Night Moves' chosen as runner up for BMO Bank of Montreal Short Film Award at Grand River Film Festival
Great to see that this beautiful short film by Peter Genoway is now getting some festival screenings.
I created the sound design and mixed for this film in 2010.
As well as gaining the runner up spot at the Grand River Film Festival, there are upcoming screenings in the US at the Tulsa International Film festival, as well as the Hamilton Film Festival back in Canada during November.

News about another award! This time for 'Private Snuffy' - a film featuring sound design and mix by me - which has won the 'best short documentary' award at the Rincon International Film Festival in Puerto Rico.
'Private Snuffy' is a comment on the Iraq war, a soldier's thoughts on being called up, and the controversy surrounding the Abu Ghareb prison. It features some great animation - see still image below featuring none other than, Donald Rumsfeld.

Short film wins top award at 44th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival
Short film, "The Evening News" has won the top award - Platinum - in the shorts dramatic original category at WorldFest in Houston TX.
I recorded location sound for this short, and also completed audio post production for the project.

Ben Sainsbury's short film 'Private Snuffy' premieres out on the West Coast at the Tiburon International Film Festival (San Francisco) in April 2011. It then screens in Puerto Rico at the end of the month at the Rincon International Film Festival.
The NFB funded film, features sound design and mix by me. The film was delivered in silent form and sound build up from scratch; a great opportunity to experiment.

Music compositions to feature in 3rd season of award winning TV travel show, Departures
Thrilled to announce that a number of pieces of music I wrote will be featuring in the third season of this amazing television series.
The show - with a Gemini win for best photography and a further 7 Gemini nominations to date - follows two travelers on their adventures across the globe.

The film was also broadcast recently in Spain on television channel TV3.
The film brought challenges in that it the soundscape was built from a silent locked picture edit. The film features animation elements and extensive chase/fight sequences providing the perfect opportunity to experiment with sound design.

Short film "Solids and Stripes" by Mariana Osuna Perez is headed to the Festival de Cannes to be featured in their Short Film Corner in May 2010.

I recently performed foley for 12 episodes of the Michael Eisener (ex Walt Disney president) animated tv series,
"Glenn Martin DDS" which is currently screening on the Nickelodeon Channel (Nick at Night) and City TV.
The show features the voice of Kevin Nealon, who played Doug Wilson television comedy series Weeds.
Update: "Glenn Martin DDS" premieres in the United Kingdom and Ireland - channel Sky One - on March 18th 2010.

Podcasts created for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra
I recently recorded a number of podcasts for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
The first two of these involved recording CBC Radio 2 host, Tom Allen. Tom presented podcasts on Mozart and Schostakovich.
More recently I did a podcast for younger audiences for Jack and the Beanstalk, featuring some fun sound design to bring the classic tale to life. The Jack and the Beanstalk podcast has been downloaded well over one thousand times in its first month of publication. Check out examples of my podcasts here...
